Inspiration

To give you a little idea of my working process I’ve got this track for you guys to listen to!

One of my favourite artists, ‘Dave Mcpherson’ released his first solo album last year and had four tracks on, named Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter, and this is where I first drew inspiration for this project!

Listen to how he takes certain feelings from Summer and tries to show them through the music he’s written. Happy, bouncy and feel good, most people can relate these feelings to various events or memories from Summer, and that’s what I am trying to do from a very personal perspective!

Enjoy!

Progress

Hey guys! So first of all, in a lot of pain today due to the fact I have the back of a seventy year old, struggling to get out of bed! But, this hasn’t stopped me from making several steps in my project these last few days!

First of all, I should outline that the premise of this project has changed slightly and I’ll explain that now!

I am now creating music to sit against a time lapse video of a forest over a year. The musical ideas are still staying the same, keeping to my interpretation of how I want seasons to sound and still staying in two minute slots, creating an eight minute piece in total. I have found a fantastic time lapse video which you can see in my last post! Providing I get the go ahead to use this in my display, I have a very clear end goal now! I should again note that I won’t be taking any credit for the creation/participation in the time lapse video and that all the rights go to the artist who created it.

Secondly, providing that I can get the necessary equipment and the space (which is already in motion) I shall be unveiling this piece via a projection in a small gallery space just outside Lincoln! This will include the video being projected and the room being lit up with ambient mood lighting to once again, strengthen the idea that the seasons are changing. People will be able to come and listen to my piece whilst watching the time lapse I have found to accompany it! It is my hope that people will hear the audio and be able to understand certain aspects of the track and see how they reflect the seasons or how I think they reflect the seasons!

So far all the feedback for this project has been fantastic so everyone who I have shown it to, thank you for being so positive! My next step is to sort out a definite date for the unveiling, the equipment; lighting, projector, seating space etc and start the first stages of recording the piece in the studio!

Stay tuned!

Time Lapse

So I found an absolutely beautiful Time Lapse video of a forest over a year, created by the amazing ‘motionkicker’ and uploaded to Vimeo. I would love to credit the person who made this more but have no idea of their real name or their details!

Either way I would like to stress that I take no credit in making this time lapse and nor did I have anything to do with it’s production or creation. I am merely using this video as a visual support to the audio piece I’m making.

As I promised a rough demo of the Rhythm guitar a few days ago and didn’t deliver, I have made a better demo of the first four minutes with Rhythm Acoustic, Lead Acoustic and a slight bit of percussion in places! It’s by no means a nice sounding mix but it gives you a rough idea on where I’m going with this project. I shall be uploading this with the first few minutes of the time lapse so you can see the incredible amount of work that’s gone in to making it! (I should note that I have stretched the video to 8 minutes for the sake of the project!)

Hope you enjoy this guys!

Ahead Of Schedule

So I’m actually ahead of schedule for once!

Despite not having an animator for my piece anymore, I have written the Rhythm parts for the first four minutes of my project! Although it’s a lot more simple than I originally intended, it’s leaving a massive opportunity open to layer the piece with lots of different parts!

Will be putting up a rough demo of the rhythm parts for you tonight!

It’s all coming together!
